Zahir si baat hai…

I always believed that every woman should read Coelho Paulo’s “The Zahir”. I have myself recommended/gifted this book to at least a dozen women, and each one of them had thanked me, and we had talked at length about how they could identify with it and how it helped them gaining a deeper perspective about their own lives. The book is almost intuitive for women. It speaks to us, talking about a quest that we understand, a language that is familiar. We are already in midst of our struggle as women, and this book somehow assures us that we are on the right path, that we know what it means to love, and how, that is all that is there. It just calms and soothes us. Ironically, the book is written from a man’s perspective, his journey to find himself, through his efforts to find his wife, who has left him without any explanation. As he carefully peels the layers of his wife’s life, he starts learning about his own path too. While this should have been an interesting read for a man too, I h

Arz kiya hai...

Getting 'inspired' by Zakhir bhai, Annu Malik style. Toh, arz kiya hai, Bahut Masum Ladka Hai Ishq Ki Baat Nahi Samajhta.  Bahut Masum Ladka Hai Ishq Ki Baat Nahi Samajhta.  Na Jane Kis Din Main Khoya Rehta Hai Meri Raat Nahi Samajhta.❤️

Be That

Here's another spoken word poetry. Loving them...

Bol

Isn't it easy, cribbing about everything that is unfair in life? Then again, life is unfair. What is needed is to make it fair for yourself, because, guess what, no one will fight your battle. I attended the ET Global Business Summit today and a prominent thing that was highlighted in every talk and speech - if you have even a bit of privilege at your side, use it to voice your opinions.  Every person on that dias was an inspiration. They were there because they persevered. They had their fights, facing injustices and prejudices. However, they decided to fight, use their privilege as an opportunity, instead of cribbing about the unfairness of life.  Point is, never let your voice get lost, no matter the circumstances. Speak up, even if no one is listening, because one day they will.  As Faiz Ahmed Faiz had said, "Bol ke lab Azad hain tere, bol zubaan, aab tak teri hai..."

No poem V-Day!

I tried, but failed. Like tried really hard. However, writing a love sonnet on the occasion of Valentine's Day is something I cannot do. The moment I try to write something, it just turns into a parody! Any other day, I am game, but 14th Feb is the worst day for me to write anything romantic. How ironic is that. Then again, when have I ever been predictable? 😎 Point is, I don't get this concept of Valentine's Day at all, never did. It's just too sweet, too sugary, too gooey. I mean, yikes. 🙄 Yes I like cheesey romance. I love SRK. I am sucker for every stupid romantic comedy movie. Reason why I would rather have small everyday sweet gestures than one day of over-the-top romance. Get me a single daffodil or tulip, a bar of chocolate or give me a customised card. I love them. But don't give them on V-Day. Surprise me through the year.  Sigh! Why are simple dreams so difficult to be fulfilled? Anyway, back to the poem. As I can only channelise my inner Chandler today

Sleepless in...

It's one of those nights When sleep eluded And I lay wide-awake Listening to the same playlist Keeping those dreams at bay Which still has a long way to go Before they are finally fulfilled.

When I found the Rebel

Image
Years ago when I was struggling to find a footing for myself, trying to understand where do I stand in this world order, I found this beautiful book, "The Rebel" by Osho.  My alienation, doubt and despair found an exit route through the words of Osho. Pick it up, if the following words resonate with you too... "A rebel is a fighter, a warrior... The rebel remains in the society, but he is no longer part of the society. That is his renunciation, and that is his rebelliousness. He is not stubborn, he is not adamant, he is not an egoist; he just does not go on fighting blindly. If he finds something right, he obeys it, but he obeys his own feeling of rightness, not the commandment given by others. And if he sees that it is not right, he disobeys it – whatsoever the cost may be. He may accept a crucifixion, but he will not accept any spiritual slavery. The situation of the rebel is tremendously exciting. Each moment he is faced with problems because the society has a fixed m

With you

If anytime you feel You are too tired Unable to go on anymore You will find me Beside you No matter the path  You choose Your demons are yours You need to slay them Each time you fall You have to get up The bruises are real So is the healing Know it's all You I can't take away Your pain and hurt They are what make you  You Let that purge you To help you emerge  Someone who is really You You will find me At the milestones When you are too tired to walk Take my hand  And sit with me To celebrate You In silence As the sun rises  In the horizon A new day beckons you We will say our goodbyes As you walk again Filled with love To find one true You. When you will reach the finish line Wearing your scars as badges I will be there Cheering you on For the warrior will Finally reach home Conquering the self, the mightiest.

Haiku: Breathe

I am not an addiction for you, Nor a toxic waste, I am the oxygen that you breathe.

If you are in me How can I fear To lose you? As long as I have myself  You are in me Intact.
