I wish...

I wish someone to serenade me With a beautiful song less known, I wish someone to travel with me To the very edge of the world, I wish someone to read to me A poem that touches the heart, I wish someone to be with me When I look at the moon & the stars, I wish someone to enjoy with me The cool breeze, clouds & rain, I wish someone to look at me And find his soul in mine.

Dear Zindagi: Great cast, unconventional story, still an average movie...

Image
There had been so much hoopla about this movie, everyone going gaga about it. So, after almost two-months of avoiding it, I finally succumbed to the strong recommendations of two of my five inner-most circle people! To start with, yes, it was a nice movie. It had its elements. It had a great story to tell, so many emotions to portray, and a simple message to deliver - live your life. It did it well. And, that's where my problem lies. It remained an average movie, when it could have been great. With a star-cast like SRK and Alia, this movie could have been more layered than being didactic, mundane and almost irrelevant. It seemed as if Gauri Shinde lost her zeal to the cause somewhere, as if she felt guilty of portraying such a story, as if it was too simple for her to even bring it on to the screen. Thankfully, the brilliant characters glossed over this 'glitch'. And, that's what made the public love it. Wish it could have been great though. Interestingly, these ...

Say I want you, not need you...

Image
For a horrific few seconds you realise that this could be it, you could have been left all alone in this wide whole world, with no real relation to call your own. You are just there, standing all alone at a busy cross-road while scores of people pass you by. They are not bothered about you being there. You just stand there, in silence, trying to assimilate the fact that you are all alone. As tears roll down, and the sinking feeling of being alone hits you hard, you try to find someone who could just be there besides you. It is not a need, it is a want of someone to be there with you. You are enough for yourself, you love your own being, you are strong enough to carry your own burden on your shoulders. You know you don’t need anyone. Surely, you don’t. As you finally understand the difference between ‘Need’ and ‘Want’, you say it out loud, “I want you, not need you.”

Say your prayers, thank your stars…

Image
Say your prayers, thank your stars, you never know what life will bring in the next moment. Be grateful for what you have. Quit the games, the drama and live vulnerably. Let the world see the real you, the intrinsic person that you are. Laugh out loud, cry when overwhelmed, but never lose hope, the bright side of life. And, say whatever you want to, but with a touch of humour. Bring smile on people’s faces, they need you just as you need them. Choose to be happy. Yes, happiness is a choice. But, never ever forget, to say your prayers, and thank your stars…

Men never ask for direction. Never. Period.

Image
"Our little satellite reached Mars because it was called MOM. If it was called DAD, it would still be circling the Earth, lost, but not willing to ask for directions." I finished Mrs. Funnybones at one go. Seriously, Twinkle Khanna is a riot. As much as her acting career sucked, her writing is amazing. It was therapeutic to LOL (laugh out loud) at 1 am, giving some serious competition to the many nocturnal ‘creatures’ out there hunting…Oops! Haunting… But that generic statement about men is spot on. In fact, I believe GPRS was actually developed after this need gap analysis was conducted on a global basis! Don’t believe me, here are some choicest samples. My dad never asks for directions, never. He insists that he knows every other road that is there to know! Predictably, we often got lost, with the front seats of our reliable Maruti 800 transforming into a battleground in a matter of a wrong turn. While my mother shouted hoarse to ask for directions, my dad kept ...

Life mein thora twist hona mangta hai...

Image
Life is what you make of it, literally. You are creating your own reality at each moment, at each breath that you take. So, why create something sad or unhappy? Create something unexpected, surprising, and who knows, maybe something a little risky too. After all,  life mein risk nahi liya toh kya kiya ? Although, that doesn't mean swimming through the gutter water of waterlogged Gurugram! It means more than that, it means swimming with the sharks. The fun is in beating the sharks in their own game and winning it even when you reek of blood from your open wounds. When you are stuck in a situation, there comes a time when you don't want to be bothered about it anymore. You just want to say, 'Enough, I have given too much mind space to you, let me move on to something else.' And, when you say that, you feel a certain lightheartedness about it, you start feeling to be yourself. You connect with your inner self. And when you do so, you don't find a boring you, you f...

Her life is yours too...

Image
She often wonders how sometimes life comes smacking on her face. Just when she wants to forget things, go about distracting herself, laugh with friends or simply work to numb her senses, things take a turn towards a signpost that bleeds her heart out. The cards were dealt and she was winning at it. She was finally defeating that dreaded pain and hurt. And, that's when it happened. She was at Cloud 9 when the thunder struck and thrashed her to the ground. As she lay there, bruised and hurt, she wondered what just happened. But she knew she needs to get up. She mustered enough courage to get going. She lifted her aching limbs slowly and with great difficulty stood up. As she wobbled to regain her strength, she was hit by a double whammy. Another unexpected blow, a cloud burst and her very being was threatened to be swept off. They tried their best, but they were never prepared for her resolute self. She stood by the deluge, rooting herself to the very ground she knew will ...
